It was a very happy mail day in our house…we got our I800A approval!!! For those of you unfamiliar with international adoption, this is basically the US government saying we meet the criteria to adopt from China. Eventually, there will be a second form in this series that says they will approve our adopted son as a US citizen once he arrives home…so yeah, there are many more steps later…but we are SO EXCITED because this one little page is the last piece of paper we need to complete our dossier!

So, what’s next, you ask? Basically, our dossier is now in the hands of our agency who will authenticate all the documents through the Chinese Consulate and then get it all packed up and ready to be sent to China. Once the dossier is sent to China (DTC), it will be given a log-in date (LID) and then we are eligible to review children. (Have I lost anyone with all the acronyms yet?!!)
There are still many more months to go in this process, but this approval is a major step! We have been waiting for this for several weeks now, so we are THRILLED!
